So, if you're wondering how to create content for a business, you've come to the right place!
We recently asked our Instagram audience what they need help with when it comes to content marketing.
One of the questions asked was, "How do I create content for a business?'
This an awesome topic to delve into, so let's start.
4 Tips for Creating Content for a Business
What’s Your Goal? Before you start with the fun stuff on Canva, write down 2-3 actions you want your audience to take after viewing your content. Do you want them to visit your website? Or perhaps your Facebook page? Do you need them to sign-up to your email list? Or maybe to download your initial worksheet pdf? Knowing where your priorities are for your business will help you keep on track when you get into a creative frenzy. It'll make you focus on your key messaging and honing your CTA's (Calls To Action) on each piece you develop.
Who is your audience? And what type of content do they REALLY like? Are they most receptive to infographics, or videos? If it’s videos, are they short 15second Reels or 3minute IGTV shorts? Do they prefer informal copy or straight-talking professionalism? Similar to the first point, ensure you really know who your audience is, and then take a deep dive into understanding what type of content they’ll engage with most.
Choose Your Content Pillars These are 3 topics (give or take) that you consistently provide information on through your channels. The pillars should define what message you need to convey through creating content for your business. Not only that but it is the content you will become known for, making you a trusted voice within your niche.
Mix It Up Okay, let’s get tactical! When you’ve decided on your content pillars (and the other foundations mentioned above) you can start creating the content for your business. Ensure you outline your chosen channels as this will shape the format of the content and how it's delivered. e.g. Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, email marketing, blogs, podcasts. PRO TIP: Be great on a few channels vs. mediocre on lots of channels. This is easy to say but hard to do, I totally get it. You want to spread your message far and wide, reaching as many people as possible! However, social media and broadcasting that message takes time, effort, and energy. Hone that energy into fewer channels that provide excellent value to your audience regularly and consistently. That's what's going to build up your brand. The best thing to realize is that you can use the SAME TOPIC on multiple channels, and even on multiple tools on each channel. What do I mean? Well, a blog post can be turned into an Instagram post, a series of Instagram Stories, as well as a Reel. Not to mention, it can be the key feature of your next email newsletter. Repurpose and make that content evergreen.
